I’m almost positive no one subscribed to Playboy magazine to enjoy the editorials and advice columns. It seems that may be all that is left because according to the popular men’s magazine, they are doing away with the nudity.
Playboy magazine has been around since 1953 and if there’s one thing you were promised to see in every issue, it was skin — lots of skin. Starting with the March 2016, things will become slightly more conservative.Â
“Playboy will continue to publish sexy, seductive pictorials of the world’s most beautiful women, including its iconic Playmates, all shot by some of today’s most renowned photographers,” the publication said in a statement. “The magazine will also remain committed to its award-winning mix of long-form journalism, interviews and fiction.”
Playboy Enterprises CEO Scott Flanders, says it’s just a sign of the times. “You’re now one click away from every sex act imaginable for free and so it’s just passé at this juncture.”Â
He’s got a point. Who needs Playboy magazine when you can get all your soft-core porn on Instagram.Â
Playboy is also hoping that being nudity-free will let the magazine be more accessible. Currently there are roughly 800,000 Playboy magazines in circulation. A huge drop from the millions they used to do.
