President Biden’s first National Christmas Tree Lighting will mark the return of a live audience and all the trimmings. The event will reportedly cost taxpayers almost $140,000.
According to TMZ, the National Park Service has paid about $139,000 to a company in Ohio to find, transport, and transplant this year’s National Christmas Tree just outside the White House.
The feds started holiday shopping earlier this year; they signed the tree contract back in September. The Biden Administration also saved taxpayers a little money on their tree. 2019’s tree cost America $160,000.
The docs also show the National Park Service dropped an additional $171,000 for “event support” at the festivities.
The official ceremony and lighting for the National Christmas tree is set for Dec. 2, with LL Cool J hosting and performances by Billy Porter, Chris Stapleton, H.E.R., Juanes, Keb’ Mo,’ Kristin Chenoweth, Maren Morris, and Patti LaBelle.
