Grammy Week 2026 is shaping up to be a celebration of legacy, influence, and Black cultural power as Pharrell Williams, Brandy, and Kirk Franklin are set to receive top honors from the Recording Academy’s Black Music Collective.
The fourth annual Recording Academy Honors will take place January 29 at the Fairmont Century Plaza in Los Angeles, just ahead of the 2026 Grammy Awards airing live on February 1. The annual gathering spotlights artists whose work has shaped music, community, and culture across generations.
This year, Pharrell will be awarded the Dr. Dre Global Impact Award, recognizing his boundary-pushing career and global creative reach. Brandy and Kirk Franklin will each receive the Black Music Icon Award, honoring their longstanding contributions to Black music and their impact beyond the studio. Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr. praised the honorees in a statement, saying, “Pharrell, Brandy, and Kirk are true visionaries and masters of their craft. Each has built a legacy that transcends genre, defies convention, and shapes culture. Their artistry continues to inspire generations of artists around the world. I’m thrilled to join the Black Music Collective in honoring three of music’s brightest stars in January and celebrating their immeasurable contributions to the industry.”
Pharrell continues to stay booked and busy, producing Clipse’s “Let God Sort Em Out,” which earned five Grammy nominations, while balancing his role as Louis Vuitton’s men’s creative director and releasing his animated biopic “PIECE BY PIECE” with LEGO.
Brandy recently reunited with Monica for “The Boy Is Mine Tour,” a moment fans waited decades to see, and is preparing to release her memoir, “PHASES,” alongside ongoing acting projects.
Franklin, fresh off his Ultimate Icon Award win at the BET Awards, continues to blend gospel and mainstream spaces through new music and his Den of Kings podcast.
As Grammy Week approaches, the Black Music Collective’s latest honorees reflect the lasting power of artists whose influence refuses to fade.
