The Met Gala is returning to its original date, May 2, with A-Listers like Regina King co-chairing the ball. Due to previous pre-cautions because of COVID, the ball hasn’t really been the same. The 2022 theme is In America: An Anthology of Fashion, which will see all the stars raising funds for the Metropolitan Museum Art’s Costume Constitute.
In addition to Regina King, the perfect prom couple, Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds, and Lin-Manuel Miranda will also co-chair. Vogue announced that Tom Ford, head of Instagram Adam Mosseri, and Anna Wintour will be beside the co-chairs as honorary hosts of the event.
In America: An Anthology of Fashion is a continuation of last year’s theme, A Lexicon of Fashion which is still on display at the museum. Both themes will be open to the public from May 7 until September 5, 2022.
Vogue reports the history of An Anthology of Fashion, “Through a series of installations in the period rooms of the American Wing, the new exhibition explores the foundations of American fashion. Individual designers and dressmakers who worked in the U.S. from the 19th century to the mid-late 20th century are featured. (Expect roughly 100 captivating examples of men’s and women’s dress to be on display.”
Expect to see some jaw-dropping celebrity fashion looks on May 2!
