Former Jets head coach, Rex Ryan, is expected to take Buffalo head coach job as soon as Sunday.

Ryan met with the Bills for his second interview Saturday night and is to accept the job. The team can finally conclude their grueling search after interviewing a dozen candidates for the position. This was of course, after Doug Marrone opted out of his contract not even two weeks ago, leaving many of the Bills’ personnel in disarray. ESPN.com reports that Buffalo is “putting the finishing touches” on the deal. Ryan will sign for five years and get to bring Jets defensive coordinator, Denis Thurman, with him, as reported by NFL Media’s, Kimberly Jones.

Ryan’s last six seasons with the Jets resulted in a 46-50 record and was fired alongside GM John Idzik, after their 2014 4-12 record late Dec. (I don’t blame them) The team missed the playoffs four years in a row. However, Ryan will face more challenge in Buffalo as he takes on a team that hasn’t made the postseason in 15 years. The team also has “unproven” quarterbacks, ESPN.com and NFL.com report; a problem he faced in New York. The defense is great – which is a strong point for the veteran coach – but will need to be set aside to make room for the offense to become Ryan’s main focus.

He will remain with the AFC East meaning matchups with both the Patriots and his former team TWICE! Ryan will become the first coach since 1997 to coach two teams within the same division.
