Rihanna fans have been impatiently waiting for new music to be released by the songstress, but clearly, she’s been a little busy making some serious bank. The Bajan pop star turned beauty, and fashion mogul is now a resident of London, England, where she comes in at third place on the Sunday Times Rich List. Surpassing legendary Sir Elton John and Sir Mick Jagger, Rihanna joins the ranks of the top two wealthiest British musicians, Andrew Lloyd Webber and Paul McCartney.
The success of her Fenty Beauty cosmetics brand and overall fifteen percent stake in the company largely contributes to her estimated total earnings, which exceed $500 million. Rihanna’s groundbreaking entry on the list proves that times are changing as, since its inception in 1989, the list has been “dominated by inherited wealth, the landed gentry and mass of largely white, middle-aged and elderly men” according to Robert Watts who compiles the British based list.
Rihanna is currently the top-earning female musician in the world, outranking Madonna, Celine Dion, and Beyoncé. Early estimates suggest that the impact of the global pandemic due to Covid-19 will drastically affect a musician’s earnings. Without revenue from touring, many may see a financial loss. With both Fenty Beauty and Savage X Fenty, Rihanna is securing the bag in multiple industries, ensuring her personal financial security and place as a renowned business mogul.
