A Pennsylvania man is grieving his wife after she was shot dead in their car in March.Â
Ryan Eberly and his wife, Julie, were heading southbound on Interstate 95, very much excited to celebrate their seventh wedding anniversary on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, when a bullet suddenly struck Julie in the head.Â
ABC15 recently obtained the heartbreaking 911 dispatch call.Â
“Someone shot into my car. My wife is shot. She’s bleeding badly. I need help now! Please hurry!” Ryan pleaded with dispatch. “She’s shot in the head, but I’m trying to stop the bleeding.”
“Stay with me, Julie. Julie, keep breathing. Honey, breathe!” you can hear Ryan saying before help arrives.Â
The shooting is a result of road rage, People reported.Â
“I changed lanes, and a car was coming behind me. I didn’t see that he was going around me. I pushed him to the shoulder mistakenly,” Ryan said. “As soon as I was able, I gave him room to get back on the highway. No car contact.”Â
Shortly after, Ryan noticed the car again, and at that moment, gunshots were fired.Â
“My wife yelled my name, and I asked if she was hit. She said yes,” Ryan told WGAL.Â
According to People, Ryan did try to stop the bleeding and give his wife CPR, but his efforts were unsuccessful in the end.Â
Julie was rushed to UNC Southeastern Hospital, where she passed away. She leaves behind six children.Â
The shooter has been identified as 29-year-old Dejywan R. Floyd. He is being charged with First Degree Murder and Discharging a Weapon into an Occupied Property. He is currently booked without bond, People reported.Â
“Regardless of the circumstances, no one deserved to be murdered while traveling our nation’s highways,” Sheriff Burnis Wilkins said. “I am proud of the investigative work put forth by the law enforcement agencies that came together as one to bring this case to a successful conclusion.”
