Serena Williams won’t be playing at Flushing Meadows next week.
In an Instagram post, the tennis legend announced that she’s withdrawn from the U.S. Open, so she can take the much-needed time to continue to recover from a torn hamstring.
“After careful consideration and following the advice of my doctors and medical team, I have decided to withdraw from the U.S. Open to allow my body to heal completely from a torn hamstring.”
The 39-year-old Tennis star tore her hamstring during her first-round match against Aliaksandra Sasnovich at Wimbledon.
Since that injury, Williams couldn’t make it through the match and hasn’t participated in a tournament, including missing the Tokyo Olympics.
