Shaquille O’Neal and Allen Iverson have just been named President and Vice President of Reebok Basketball.
Shaquille O’Neal will lead basketball strategy and partnerships, while Iverson will focus on recruitment and community initiatives, reinvigorating Reebok’s basketball category.
In the early 90’s, both athletes joined Reebok, with O’Neal being famously remembered for his Shaq Attaq and Shaqnosis signature sneakers in 1992. While Iverson made a mark with the Reebok Questions in 1996, a game-changing sneaker in his rookie year.
“We are thrilled to be expanding upon our partnership with Shaquille with this historic appointment. As an athlete, he made an incredible imprint on not only our brand but the entire sport and culture of basketball,” said Reebok CEO Todd Krinsky. “With the combination of his deep-rooted history with Reebok and the reigning influence he’s made on the game, there is no one better than this guy to take the helm and lead our brand back to reclaiming its rightful place and dominance in basketball.”
According to O’Neil, he is eager to find top talent, male or female, while working beside Iverson for Reebok’s success.
“We’ve been friends forever,” Shaq told Complex. “He’s a great dude, he’s a great friend, and he was happy—and he’ll be next to me.”
