Shaquille O’Neal made one lucky fan a very happy guy.
According to People, the basketball legend whipped out his credit card and paid off the balance on an engagement ring the fan was buying for his fiancée in a Zales store, where O’Neal happens to have his own jewelry line.
O’Neal described the wonderful moment during Wednesday’s NBA on TNT, “I seen a guy come in — he was just so shy, and he was saying, ‘Hey, how much do I owe to pay off my ring?’ O’Neal said.
“And I was like, ‘How much is the ring?’ ” O’Neal said as he recalled generously paying off the ring’s balance.
O’Neal has a great reputation for being generous and helping out families in need. In 2019, he purchased a new home for the family of a 12-year-old boy who was left paralyzed after being shot in Atlanta.
“I didn’t mean for [the ring story] to get out, ’cause I don’t do it for that,” Shaq humbly explained. “I’m just trying to make people smile, that’s all.”
