SZA is addressing the elephant in the room– her being on crutches during the 2022 Grammys, and apparently, it had a lot to do with a silly injury.
SZA tells Billboard, “It’s very funny because I fell out a bed right before it was time to leave and get ready for this.”
“Like the day before, but that’s the way it goes. Everything awesome in my life has always come with something like very random, but it just adds to the energy.” She also added that her next album is on the way soon. “It’s probably my most unisex project yet, if that makes sense,” she said. “It’s for everyone.”
Her crutches were worth it as she had to walk on stage to accept a Grammy! She and Doja Cat took home Grammy for Best Pop Duo Performance.
Later Monday, the “I Hate U” singer revealed on Instagram that what she thought was just a sprain turned out to be an actual break in her ankle.
“Chipped the corner of my ankle bone right off doing nothing,” she posted to her Instagram story.
The injury was confirmed following a doctor’s visit.
