SZA Shares Why She’s Single: ‘I Can Catch ‘Em, But I Can’t Keep ‘Em’ [Video]

SZA may be one of R&B’s most desirable stars, but she recently opened up about her struggles with keeping men interested. During a new episode of Chicken Shop Date released on Friday, July 5, SZA revealed her self-aware theory on why her relationships don’t last.

“I feel like I can catch ’em, but I cannot keep ’em,” she admitted to host Amanda Dimoldenberg, who also shared her difficulties in getting second dates. SZA explained, “They get with me and they realize I’m freaking weird, and then it’s just like, ‘Aight.'”

She humorously added, “The butt makes it seem like it’s normal. On the outside, I wanna shake ass and do all the normal things. But I also wanna swim in the swamp and collect methane gas with my man. That’s my type of shit.”

Lately, the TDE songbird has been quite open about her life outside of music. In a video shared on Instagram, SZA met up with U.S. gymnast Simone Biles ahead of the 2024 Paris Olympics and showcased her own gymnastics skills. The clip begins with the two women embracing before SZA reveals it had been a “dream” to meet Biles, the most decorated gymnast in history.

SZA reminisced about her own gymnastics past, saying, “When it was clear to me that I wasn’t gonna be a national gymnast, I was like, ‘Okay, let me see what I can do.’ I needed something to be competitive at.”

The video also shows SZA performing a handstand alongside Biles and later backflipping into a foam pit, which she described as “fun as shit.” The *Kill Bill* hitmaker’s playful side clearly shines through, whether she’s sharing her dating woes or revisiting old passions.
