T-Pain Honored with Tallahassee's Key to the City and Street Dedication

Singer T-Pain hit a major milestone today, turning 40 years old, and fans across the world are celebrating him.

Born Faheem Rasheed Najm on September 30th, 1984, in Tallahassee, Florida, T-Pain became known for mastering the art of autotune.  Though many of his fellow musicians were not immediate fans of the sound, T-Pain opened the door for artists after him, who have made the technique an industry standard.

He burst onto the scene with his debut album “Rappa Ternt Sanga” in December 2005, which featured hit singles like “I’m Sprung,” which was certified platinum, and “I’m N Luv (Wit a Stripper),” which would become three times platinum.  The album as a whole went gold, solidifying his sound and attracting the likes of Kanye West, who recruited T-Pain for “Good Life” in 2007, which earned T-Pain his first Grammy for Best Rap Song at the 50th ceremony.  His second Grammy arrived for his Jamie Foxx collaboration, “Blame It.” They won Best R&B Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocals at the 52nd ceremony.

His success continued with his sophomore album, “Epiphany,” which reached number one on the Billboard 200. His third album, “Three Ringz,” reached number three and went gold. Beyond music, T-Pain has also made a mark in other facets of entertainment, including his memorable win on “The Masked Singer” in 2019, showcasing his natural voice without autotune.

As we honor the singer on his 40th birthday, let’s take a listen to our favorite T-Pain records.
