Authorities say the 16-year-old boy whose gun jammed after he walked onto a school bus and pointed the weapon at the head of a student has pleaded guilty to attempted murder.
Kaeden Holland, a rapper who is known as Baby K, now faces 25 years in prison.
Holland and two other teens “stormed” onto a school bus in Upper Marlboro, Maryland, last May.
Holland, who was 15 at the time, pointed a gun at the student’s head and chest and pulled the trigger three times, but the weapon malfunctioned and the victim survived, PEOPLE reported.
He has since pleaded guilty to attempted first-degree murder and use of a handgun in the commission of a crime of violence and faces 25 years in an adult facility, prosecutors say.
“This was a very serious case and the actions of Kaeden Holland were heinous,” Prince George’s County State Attorney Aisha Braveboy said in a statement. “It’s important for him, other young people and everyone else to know that there are consequences to their actions. It doesn’t matter how old you are, my job and that of the prosecutors in my office is to hold anyone committing crime in Prince George’s County accountable for their actions.”
Last week a judge ruled Holland would be tried as an adult had his case gone to trial.
