Haven’t been bit by the love bug this Valentine’s Day? Well, the San Antonio and El Paso zoos in Texas feel your pain.
The zoos are allowing customers to purchase cockroaches for $5, or rats for $25, to have them dedicated to and named after an ex. The zoos will then allow customers to watch the critters be fed to its predator, all in the name of love, or the lack thereof.
Ironically, you don’t have to reside in San Antonio or El Paso to take part in the event, since both zoos are packing all the fun onto the social media platforms. This is San Antonio’s first time hosting the creepy affair and El Paso’s second.
According to USA TODAY, a post on El Paso Zoo’s Facebook read: “We had a tremendous response last year, and we are ready to do it all over again.”
The San Antonio location’s name submissions will last through Thursday. El Paso will last throughout Saturday.
The ex’s name will be flashed on the screen via the social media portals while the insect with his or her name is devoured.
Joe Montesano, the El Paso director, is adding incentive to the fun by committing for every $1000 received in donations, he will eat a cockroach.
According to USA TODAY, the donations are an estimated $4000.
On the contrary, for $15, you can name a cockroach after your love to last as long as the bug.
