American Express has a new lounge heading to New York in honor of one of its most prominent cards.
The company is building “Centurion New York,” named after their exclusive invite-only card, often referred to as the “Black Card.” When choosing a location, only the One Vanderbilt building in midtown Manhattan would suffice. Located blocks from Grand Central Terminal and Bryant Park, the 93-story tower includes fine dining by Chef Daniel Boulud and houses a variety of businesses that utilize the massive space.
The exclusive Centurion club will be open to everyone but will offer all Amex cardholders additional perks. Chef Boulud will also curate the menu inside the lounge, offering extensive casual and fine dining options. There have been talks about Amex cardholders eating for free, though this has not been confirmed.
Occupying the 55th floor, customers will enjoy the luxurious décor, a vast signature cocktail menu, and an atmosphere that permits Amex members to mix and mingle. Reservations are expected to open in late February.
This is not American Express’s only new lounge. The company is also gearing up to open the doors to a new 16,000-square-foot Centurion Lounge at San Francisco International Airport. Unlike its sister lounge in New York, Centurion Lounge San Francisco is for members only. The two also differ because the Manhattan location is one of only a few non-airport clubs presented by Amex.
“Centurion New York” will open its doors in March.
