Three people, including a suspected shooter, are dead and six others are injured following a shooting at Central Visual & Performing Arts High School in south St. Louis on Monday.
St. Louis officials report that a woman died at a hospital, and a teen girl was pronounced dead inside the school as a result of the school shooting.
According to authorities, police responded to an active shooter call at Central VPA High School at Kingshighway Boulevard and Arsenal Street at around 9:10 a.m. Officers arrived as students were running out of the building away from the shooter who was reportedly armed with a long gun. The unidentified male suspect, believed to be in his 20s, was shot after exchanging gunfire with police. He was taken to an area hospital, where he later died.

A total of eight people were transported to the hospital from the shooting. The victims’ injuries range from gunshot wounds, to shrapnel injuries and cardiac arrest.
