At least 13 people were robbed at gunpoint over a span of seven days across three neighborhoods in New Orleans. But, it wasn’t until the culprits stole a cell phone in their final pickup that officials were able to crack the case.

On Saturday, according to NOLA.com, 19-year-olds James Warrick and Roy Cross, along with an unnamed 15-year-old were located and linked to the string of robberies, after officials tracked and traced back the stolen phone to their location.
Just hours prior, a woman reported she was robbed at gunpoint shortly after midnight. In her complaint, the woman said two men got out of a car and held a gun to her head, as they demanded her belongings. Minutes later, another armed robbery was reported.

However, in the first robbery, the victim said her phone was among the items snatched by the thieves, which prompted officials to track it to the 2000 block of Feliciana Street. Upon arrival, the car used in the reported robbery was found in the driveway of the home, and the three suspects were found hiding in the attic. Officials also found several items in the home that were reported stolen the week before.

According to the publication, Cross and Warrick admitted to 13 of the 14 reported robberies since March 31, while the 15-year-old was suspected in at least the Friday night robbery on Clouet Street. Apparently, the car used in the crimes was also stolen just days before the first robbery.

As a result, Warrick is facing a slew of charges, including 10 counts of armed robbery, seven counts of armed robbery with a firearm and illegal possession of a stolen vehicle. However, according to NOLA.com, the thief was booked on simple criminal damage to property, simple burglary and drug and domestic abuse charges in an incident separate from the robberies. He is being held on a $1,066,000 bond.

On the other hand, Cross is facing seven counts of armed robbery, five counts of armed robbery with a firearm, criminal trespass and illegal possession of a stolen automobile, as he was normally the watchman to Warrick’s armed actions. Cross is being held on a $530,000 bond.As for the 15-year-old, no bond information has been released, however, he is in a juvenile detention center.
