Trey Songz can breathe easier—for now. The lawsuit brought against him by two women claiming he sexually assaulted them in 2015 while at a party has been dismissed.
The attorney representing the two alleged victims dismissed the case without prejudice, which means it could be refiled in the future. A reason for the dismissal wasn’t mentioned in the court document filed Friday, HipHopDX reported.
The two women who sued the singer in October of 2023 accused him of forcing himself onto them to have non-consensual sex while at a Los Angeles party in 2015.
In their lawsuit, the women say they met Songz earlier that year at one of his concerts and were invited to an afterparty he was hosting and linked with him months later when they were invited to his birthday party at his house in August.
The alleged victims said when they arrived at the birthday party, they were forced to give up their phones before entering the party. They also believe they were drugged as they felt very drunk despite only drinking a “modest” amount.
They say at some point they passed out in an upstairs bedroom and woke up naked with Trey performing oral sex on one and fingering the other.
Songz allegedly demanded they all shower together, but said they refused to do so, making him enraged. The women say the singer kicked them out the next morning.
“This is yet another example of nearly decade-old allegations being repurposed to take advantage of California’s constitutionally questionable new lookback window,” he told TMZ at the time of the filing. “We look forward to vindicating Trey on the merits in court,” Trey Songz’s attorney, Michael Freedman said regarding the allegations.
