Right-wing host Tucker Carlson and Fox News are splitting up. On Monday, the network announced Carlson is leaving immediately.
The prime-time host’s last program aired Friday without a farewell send-off. The need for his departure comes after Fox settled with Dominion Voting Systems in its defamation lawsuit for $787.5 million.
“FOX News Media and Tucker Carlson have agreed to part ways,” the company said. “We thank him for his service to the network as a host and prior to that as a contributor.”
On Friday, Carlson signed off, saying he would be back on Monday, which brings speculations that the split may have been sudden.
However, Fox News wouldn’t comment beyond the release, and whether Carlson was being taken off air in response to the Dominion defamation case, CNBC News reported.
The company’s press release says its Fox News Tonight will air live at 8 PM/ET starting Monday evening as an interim show helmed by rotating FOX News personalities until a new host is named.
