The NBA has just announced that Houston Rockets’ Ty Lawson will be suspended three games, without pay, for driving under the influence of alcohol. The suspension is effective immediately, which means Lawson will miss tonight’s game against the Utah Jazz.
In July, Ty Lawson was arrested for DUI in Los Angeles, his second DUI for the year. Lawson, who played for the Denver Nuggets at the time, was pulled over by police officers for speeding around 2:30 a.m. PT on the 101 Freeway and proceeded to fail the field sobriety test. This was his fourth DUI during his basketball career, according to reports.
Lawson already sat out Monday’s game against Utah due to a sprained ankle and after sitting out of practice on Wednesday, it was already questionable whether or not he would be able to play during tonight’s rematch. I guess the decision was made for him.
Ty Lawson will return to the hardwood on Wednesday, January 13 against the Timberwolves.
