Tyrese Gibson is taking his ex-wife, Samantha Gibson, to court after she relocated their daughter, Soraya, from Georgia to Oregon, a move he says was made without his consent. According to court documents filed in October, Tyrese is demanding full custody of the 7-year-old.
According to Us Weekly, the actor claims Samantha only informed him about the move in mid-August and followed through with it in late October, despite his objections. In a letter, Samantha wrote, “I truly believe God is leading me to move out of state to the West Coast … specifically Oregon.
Samantha argued the move would make it easier for Tyrese to visit, since Oregon is closer to his California home. She proposed a plan for Tyrese to have more uninterrupted time with Soraya. But Tyrese wasn’t having it.
He responded, “No, Samantha. No way. No how. I do not agree.”
He insists the move violates their agreement, which was based on living near Atlanta. Tyrese says the relocation strips Soraya of her support system, including her older sister Shayla, who also lives in Atlanta.
Samantha claims Tyrese failed to use all his parenting time and often relies on a nanny. She also stated that nothing in their legal agreement prohibits her from relocating.
The court had previously awarded Samantha primary custody and ordered Tyrese to pay $10,000 a month in child support. That amount was reduced to $5,500 after a recent financial reassessment.
Samantha has now filed a counterclaim. The custody battle continues, and both sides are preparing for what could be a lengthy legal fight.
