Viola Davis might be our next First Lady, or at least she will play the role of the beloved Michelle Obama in a new TV series.

According to Variety, the Oscar-winning Viola Davis has agreed to play the former First Lady in a series being developed at Showtime, titled, “First Ladies.” The network has given the potential one-hour drama a three script commitment, with Aaron Cooley set to write and executive produce the project.

The series will take a closer look into the personal and political lives of First Ladies from our history, with season one focusing on Eleanor Roosevelt, Betty Ford, and Michelle Obama.

“First Ladies” will allow viewers to peek into the East Wing of the White House, rather than the West, where many decisions and historical shifts have been hidden, most of which, were made by the powerful First Ladies.

“In the East Wing of the White House, many of history’s most impactful and world-changing decisions have been hidden from view, made by America’s charismatic, complex and dynamic First Ladies,” the logline reads, reported by People. “This series will peel back the curtain on the personal and political lives of our most enigmatic heroes.”

Davis and her partner Julius Tennon will serve as non-writing executive producers under their Juvee Production banner, along with Cathy Schulman, Welle Entertainment, Jeff Gaspin, Gaspin Media and Brad Kaplan, Link Entertainment.

The series will be made by Showtime and Lionsgate Television.
