Wendy Williams’ conservatorship could be terminated before the end of the year.
The recent update, which came directly from her lawyer, Joe Tacopina, is the latest in the long-running legal arrangement. He revealed in an interview with ABC’s “Nightline” that guardianship lawyers were prepared to review whether the structure that has controlled Williams’ personal and financial affairs since 2022 is still necessary. The development surfaced after the court received a status report from the team overseeing her care. The document outlines her current medical and financial circumstances and indicates that a reassessment is appropriate.
“[Williams] does not have frontotemporal dementia, so that should be game, set, match,” Tacopina said in the interview. “The plan is this…there are guardianship attorneys…and we’re watching and waiting, and they’ve assured Wendy by year’s end she’ll be out of guardianship.
Williams was originally placed under a temporary guardianship after concerns were raised about her health and her ability to manage financial matters. The arrangement has drawn intense public attention due to Williams’ high profile career in television and radio, as well as the confusion surrounding her recent health struggles.
Williams’ family has not issued formal statements about this optimistic update.
