In Yung Miami’s latest single, “RAP FREAKS,” the Florida rapper name-dropped fourteen celebrities in less than two minutes.
But apparently, the song isn’t meant to cause drama. Miami says the tongue-in-cheek song is simply playful and says people shouldn’t take it seriously.
“The song is showing love to all the rappers right now. It’s nothing personal,” she tells Billboard. “I [named] a bunch of the guys who are on top, that’s hot, that’s poppin’. Nothing is personal, nothing is literal, I’m just having fun.”
Also known as Caresha Romeka Brownlee, Miami says she found inspiration to write “RAP FREAKS” through the legacy of other rappers such as Trina, Lil Kim, Biggie Smalls, and Nicki Minaj, who have done similar songs. “I just felt like it was going to be a moment in hip-hop, so it was something that I went into the studio wanting to do,” she says.
The music video is also jaw-dropping with its BDSM-style, with racy scenes involving whips, cages, lace, and leather.
It also flashes framed photos of some of the song’s male subjects. Among that list are Diddy, Lil Baby, DaBaby, 50 cent, and others.
During her interview with Billboard, Miami took the time to gush over Georgia rapper Jeezy. Although she isn’t asking for a song with him, she did say, “I would love for him to perform at one of my birthday bashes,” she says. “If you’re reading this interview, that would be a good surprise for me.”
The City Girls member says she wouldn’t sleep with any of the men mentioned in the song, despite the sexual lyrics rapped in the song.
Miami will launch her website, CareshaPlease.com, soon. The website is named after her legal first name, something fans insisted on calling her. “They just don’t respect me. They like calling me Caresha, they say it feels better and that they feel like they know me,” she says. “If I’m out with my family and hear someone call me Yung Miami, I know it’s a fan. When you’ve got the whole world calling you Caresha it’s kind of weird because it’s hard to separate the two.”
The website will offer exclusive merch, consignment items, photos, and a line of limited edition sex toys that comes from her partnership with Kandi Burruss’s intimate brand, Bedroom Kandi.
It will launch at 3 p.m. ET on Friday (Oct. 29).
