Alannah Keyser’s Casa Amor debut did not stay focused on villa drama for long. The new “Love Island USA” bombshell is facing backlash after a resurfaced video allegedly showed her singing along to a song and using the N-word, with fans also pointing to an old Instagram comment where she allegedly used the same slur. The “Love Island” backlash hit just hours after Keyser appeared on Sunday night’s episode as one of the new Casa Amor women.
Production has not publicly addressed Keyser’s status, and Page Six reported that a rep for Peacock was not immediately available for comment. Still, fans are already pressing the show to act.
Fans online have pointed to Vasana Montgomery, who was removed from Season 8 before filming after videos surfaced of her using a racial slur. It was reported that a source close to production said the videos were privately owned and only came to light after Montgomery had been announced as part of the cast. The Los Angeles Times reported that Montgomery later apologized, saying, “There is no excuse for it, and I am deeply sorry.”
And this is not a one-season problem. During Season 7, Yulissa Escobar exited shortly after the premiere after resurfaced podcast clips showed her using the N-word. Escobar later apologized and said she used the term without understanding its historical pain and trauma.
Cierra Ortega also left the villa in Season 7 after resurfaced posts showed her using a slur targeting Asian people. On-air, narrator Iain Stirling told viewers Ortega had left “due to a personal situation.” Ortega later released what she called an “accountability video,” saying she did not know the word “was a slur” and adding, “I had no idea of its meaning.”
Now, with Keyser’s controversy landing during Casa Amor, fans are not just reacting to one contestant. They are questioning how “Love Island USA” keeps getting blindsided by the same type of scandal after the internet finds the receipts first.
