A campaign stop in the Bahamas turned tense this week when former NBA player Rick Fox became involved in a heated confrontation that was partially captured on video. The incident reportedly unfolded during a dispute over the placement of a campaign tent, escalating quickly after an exchange about event rules.

Video footage shows Fox and his campaign manager, Carlyle Bethel, engaged in a verbal disagreement with another individual. At one point, the situation intensified when a man responded aggressively, stating, “I don’t give a f**k about no rules.” Fox then appeared to lunge forward before being restrained by Bethel.
Moments later, Fox, visibly agitated, stepped toward the camera and addressed the situation directly. Despite the physical escalation, no injuries were reported.
In a statement following the incident, Fox, who is running for a legislative seat in the Bahamas as a member of the Free National Movement (FNM) party, framed his actions as a response to a serious threat.
“The opposition party that is in power are notorious for victimizing and bullying Bahamians,” Fox said. He added, “But I’ve been standing up to them, and in this video, my campaign manager’s life was threatened and so was mine by someone on their party as we are Advance Poll voting [Thursday].”
Fox further emphasized his stance, stating, “I stood up to the bully no different than my basketball career when I was the enforcer.” He continued, “Someone threatens a teammate’s life or threatens my life, I will defend to the death if necessary.”
Authorities have not announced any charges related to the altercation. The election outcome remains pending.
