Rapper Lil Uzi Vert’s heated battle with his record label, Generation Now, has become a trending topic online, gaining the attention from millions – including Roc Nation – who has stepped in to put the fire out.
Earlier on Monday, Uzi released several Instagram Stories promoting his “Free Uzi” campaign, which is geared towards fighting for the release of the rapper’s new album “Eternal Atake.” In one of the posts, the rapper previewed one of his songs off the album. Uzi then advised artists on how to go about releasing their album, seemingly tiptoeing around Generation Now’s DJ Drama and Don Cannon. “If you want your album 2 drop Number One rule don’t hang with the boss girlfriend,” Lil Uzi Vert wrote. “If you want your album 2 drop be patient let the guilty answer all the blogs. FREE UZI.”
While fans attempted to break down Uzi’s apparent hidden messages, the rapper then posted another video of him in the studio working on new music. In the post, Uzi thanked Roc Nation. Complex Media later confirmed that the self-proclaimed rock star is now being managed entirely by Roc Nation.
Roc Nation has been a major moving part behind several artist’s business deals and legal issues. Most recently, the company helped #21Savage get released from ICE detainment. Hov was also responsible for moving #LilWayne into the Roc Nation family after he was held back musically on the Cash Money label.
In response to Uzi’s posts, Generation Now artist JackHarlow took to Instagram to seemingly mock the 24-year-old. In a caption, Harlow wrote, “just signed my soul away….double tap if you can’t wait for eternal atake.” Following behind, DJ Drama wrote, “Don’t make me f*ck up your career too.”
