Wu-Tang Clan’s upcoming Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction already feels historic, but RZA says one guest could make the moment even bigger.
The legendary rap group is set to join the Hall’s Class of 2026 this November, sharing the honor with artists including Phil Collins, Sade, Billy Idol and more. As anticipation builds, RZA has made it clear who he hopes will step up to introduce the Staten Island icons: former President Barack Obama.
Speaking with Consequence, RZA said, “It would be crazy if Barack Obama came out to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. I mean, that’s ridiculous, right?”
He doubled down on the idea, adding, “If I was him, I would consider it. Like, ‘Baby, Michelle, you know what I think I’m about to go do? I think I’m about to go to Cleveland with the Wu-Tang Clan. Sade is going to be there. Phil Collins is going to be there. It’s gonna be a house full of good energy.'”
RZA also explained that his admiration for Obama runs deep and extends to his family.
“So I’m genuinely a fan,” he said.
For the producer and filmmaker, an induction speech carries meaning beyond ceremony. “You want a hero to induct you. And so I was like, well, I don’t have a lot of heroes, but Barack Obama is one of them. That’s just what it is.”
He previously floated other possible names, including Quentin Tarantino, Leonardo DiCaprio and LeBron James. Still, Obama remains the headline choice.
Wu-Tang Clan helped reshape hip-hop and global culture, making their Hall of Fame moment long overdue. Whether Obama answers the call or not, the group’s place in music history is already locked in.
The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony is scheduled for November 14 at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles.
