Saks Fifth Avenue, Saks Off 5th, and Lord & Taylor Experience Data Breach Of Information For Over 5 Million Debit And Credit Cards

2018 is the year of the hackers!  According to CNN, Saks Fifth Avenue, Saks Off 5th, and Lord & Taylor have been “attack(ed) by the biggest and most damaging (data breach) to ever hit retail companies,”.  The company that owns the retail chains, Hudson’s Bay company, confirmed the breach on Sunday in a press release claiming they have “identified the issue and (it) has taken steps to contain it.  Once the company has more clarity around the facts, it will notify customers quickly and will offer those impacted free identity protection services, including credit and web monitoring.”

Gemini Advisory, a cybersecurity firm, identified the breach in a blog post when they noticed the hacking syndicate put the debit and credit card information on the dark web for sale last week.

On the surface they know that credit card data was compromised dating back to May of 2017 from over 130 Saks and Lord & Taylor stores across the country, the majority of the information was stolen from New York and New Jersey locations.  In total, the hackers walked away with information from over 5 million edit and credit cards.
