A courtroom fight tied to one of Cardi B’s most viral concert moments is officially moving toward a jury trial. The “Bodak Yellow” rapper’s civil case connected to the infamous Las Vegas mic-throw incident now has a projected trial window beginning October 11, 2027, according to court documents. The Clark County case is expected to last roughly two weeks, including several days dedicated to jury selection, though scheduling could still shift depending on the court calendar.
The lawsuit traces back to July 29, 2023, during Cardi B’s performance at Drai’s Beachclub in Las Vegas. At the time, extreme heat pushed the rapper to encourage fans to splash water on her while she performed onstage. According to the complaint, a woman identified as Jane Doe later threw water and ice directly toward Cardi, triggering the now-viral moment where the rapper launched her microphone into the crowd. Doe claims the microphone struck her, causing injuries and emotional distress.
Cardi later addressed the incident publicly, explaining that the woman splashed her after she had already invited concertgoers to help cool her down earlier in the set. However, the plaintiff argues Cardi continued encouraging the crowd to throw water and even poured water on herself during the performance before the alleged impact occurred.
The woman is suing Cardi B for assault, battery, and negligence. Drai’s Management Group is also named in a separate negligence claim tied to venue safety and crowd control during the concert.
Now, with the case officially headed for trial, both sides face a strict court schedule packed with hearings and filing deadlines. Court records reportedly warn that missed appearances or violations could result in penalties ranging from fines to possible dismissal claims.
