In an attempt to avoid jail time, Sean Kingston is asking a judge for a second chance.

Back in December, the singer was ordered to pay a Florida jeweler $44,000. Months later, a judge issued a warrant for his arrest after Kingston failed to cough up the money. But now, the singer wants a second chance to redeem himself before being shipped off to the big house.

According to new legal documents obtained by TMZ, Kingston claims he didn’t know about the order to pay up because he ignored the papers he received, thinking it was for a different case. He is asking a judge to grant him a new trial so that he can tell his side of the story, as he claims he tried to return some of the pieces in question and set up a payment plan but the jeweler refused.

On the other hand, Haimov Jewelers said they never even heard from Kingston.

As for the new trial, Kingston is begging for mercy, as he has to represent himself due to “financial efficiency.” He also says he has health issues after being assaulted recently.
