Diddy is reportedly facing a new problem behind bars after an alleged fight with another inmate landed him in solitary confinement at FCI Fort Dix. Details surrounding the Diddy prison fight remain limited, but NBC News reported Friday that the mogul was placed in isolation following an altercation at the low-security federal prison in New Jersey.
TMZ, which first reported additional details about the confrontation, said the incident happened sometime this week after another inmate allegedly insulted Diddy. According to the outlet, the situation escalated into pushing and exchanged punches before prison staff stepped in and separated the men. One source claimed Diddy “held his own” during the brief confrontation.
However, federal prison officials have not publicly verified the circumstances surrounding the alleged altercation. A Fort Dix representative told TMZ, “We are not at liberty to disclose or provide internal information pertaining to any inmate in our custody.” The Bureau of Prisons also declined to discuss possible disciplinary action, citing privacy and security concerns involving individual inmates. Diddy representatives had not publicly commented on the incident at the time of publication.
The reported confrontation adds another complication to Diddy time at Fort Dix, where he is serving a 50-month federal sentence. A jury convicted the Bad Boy Records founder in July 2025 on two counts of transporting individuals to engage in prostitution. However, jurors acquitted him of racketeering conspiracy and two sex-trafficking charges, the most serious counts included in his federal case. He received credit for time already served after remaining in custody following his September 2024 arrest.
Loren Lorosa also confirmed this incident, tweeting, “I’m hearing Diddys in the hole in Fort Dix. He allegedly beat a man up…bad. The phone call I got was “Diddy choked a man out.” And that Diddy is now in solitary confinement for possibly 30 days. I was told this happened a little after 4pm EST yesterday, July 23, 2026.”
Diddy’s attorneys specifically requested Fort Dix after his sentencing, pointing to the facility’s residential drug treatment program and its proximity to his family. The Bureau of Prisons describes Fort Dix as a low-security federal correctional institution with an adjacent minimum-security satellite camp. The agency also says low-security institutions generally feature double-fenced perimeters, dormitory or cubicle housing, and strong work and rehabilitation programs.
Meanwhile, reports have listed February 23, 2028, as Diddy’s projected release date after the timeline was previously adjusted. It remains unclear whether the reported altercation will produce a disciplinary finding, cost him earned time credits, remove him from programming, or affect that date. Placement in solitary immediately following an incident also does not establish who started the confrontation or whether either inmate will receive a formal violation.
For now, the sharpest detail may be the lack of official detail. Several outlets are reporting that a fight occurred, prison officials are refusing to discuss individual discipline, and Diddy’s team has remained quiet. Until the Bureau of Prisons or his representatives release more information, claims about what triggered the encounter and who threw the first punch remain allegations tied to unnamed sources.
