The release of Pixar’s “Lightyear” in 2022 sparked conversation not only among audiences but also within the entertainment industry, with Snoop Dogg now weighing in.

One of the film’s key characters, Alisha Hawthorne, portrayed by Uzo Aduba, is shown married to another woman. A kiss between the couple was briefly removed from the movie, only to be restored later after Pixar employees accused Disney of restricting depictions of “overtly gay affection” in its projects, according to Variety.
That storyline recently came back into focus when Snoop shared his own reaction to it. Speaking on the “It’s Giving” podcast, he said that watching the movie with his grandson turned into an uncomfortable moment when questions arose that he did not expect.
According to Snoop, his grandson noticed the detail immediately and asked, “Papa Snoop? How she have a baby with a woman? She’s a woman!”
Caught off guard, Snoop admitted he struggled to respond. “Oh s**t, I didn’t come in for this s**t. I just came to watch the godd**n movie,” he recalled.
The questions did not stop there. His grandson pressed further, saying, “‘They just said, she and she had a baby, they’re both women. How does she have a baby?’”
Snoop said the back-and-forth “f**ked me up. I’m like, scared to go to the movies. Y’all throwing me in the middle of s**t that I don’t have an answer for.”
Looking back on the experience, Snoop said it left him unsettled because of how it forced a conversation he was unprepared for.
“It threw me for a loop. I’m like, ‘What part of the movie was this?’ These are kids. We have to show that at this age? They’re going to ask questions. I don’t have the answer,” he added.
His remarks add to the ongoing debate around LGBTQ+ representation in children’s media, particularly in animated films meant for young audiences. While some see the inclusion of diverse family structures as an important step forward, others, like Snoop, admit they feel unprepared when children ask about what they see on screen.
