Swae Lee recently found himself under intense scrutiny after making controversial remarks about Vice President Kamala Harris. On Friday, the “Black Beetle” rapper took to Twitter to share his thoughts on Harris’s candidacy in the upcoming Presidential election, urging his followers to vote for a different nominee and to research Harris’s team.
“Do not vote for Kamala!!! Do your research on that whole camp,” he tweeted.

In follow-up tweets, Swae criticized President Joe Biden’s administration for sending millions of dollars to support Ukraine in its ongoing war against Russia. He argued that the money could have been used to help Americans instead.
“I pay over millions in tax dollars every year,” Swae wrote. “This man sent it to a whole other country! Those little dollars that come off your checks, they gave it away! Think about that.”

He continued, “The money we sent away could’ve given every American citizen at least 200 grand. But I guess we don’t need it, and y’all are standing for Kamala. My Black people, she doesn’t do anything but sign off on things against us. Voting just because you think she’s Black is not going to end in your favor.”
Swae’s comments quickly sparked controversy, with social media users calling him out for trying to influence his audience, especially given his past legal troubles. However, some supported the rapper for expressing his own opinion about Harris rather than following the crowd.
Swae concluded his rant by sharing a clip of Harris in a 2019 presidential debate against Republican Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard. In the video, Gabbard criticizes Harris for contributing to a “broken criminal justice system” that negatively affects “Black and brown people all across the country.” Gabbard also mentioned how Harris, as the District Attorney of San Francisco, put individuals in jail for marijuana violations.
