Starbucks is officially letting nostalgia run the menu this summer, and one of its most talked-about drinks is stepping back into the spotlight.
The Starbucks Unicorn Frappuccino is returning for one weekend only to close out summer 2026, according to Starbucks’ June 2 announcement. The company confirmed the colorful blended beverage will be available at coffeehouses across the United States and internationally, though an exact date has not been released yet.
“The legendary Unicorn Frappuccino blended beverage will return for one weekend to close out the summer,” Starbucks said in its announcement.
That short window is the real hook. This is not a quiet menu comeback or a seasonal rollout built to sit around for months. Starbucks is bringing back the drink with the same limited-time energy that helped make it a viral moment in the first place. The original Unicorn Frappuccino launched in 2017 and quickly became known for its bright pink and blue look, dessert-like presentation, and social media takeover. The pasted source also notes that the drink made an early 2026 preview appearance at Coachella before Starbucks confirmed the wider summer return.
The drink itself is built for cameras first and taste debates second. PEOPLE reports that the Unicorn Frappuccino features crème Frappuccino mix blended with pink powder and mango syrup, layered with sour blue drizzle, whipped cream, and colorful powder on top. In other words, it is exactly the kind of drink that can turn a Starbucks counter into a mini content studio.
However, the comeback also lands with a little built-in tension. Back in 2017, the drink became famous not only because customers were posting it everywhere, but because many baristas complained about the messy, time-consuming preparation. PEOPLE also reported that some Starbucks workers still reference the original launch as a stressful moment.
Starbucks has been leaning into colorful summer releases this year. Its 2026 summer menu includes the Tropical Butterfly Refresher, made with passionfruit and guava flavors, mango-pineapple flavored pearls, and butterfly pea flower infusion, along with the returning Unicorn Cake Pop.
So, yes, the Unicorn Frappuccino is back. But with only one weekend on the board, this comeback is less casual coffee run and more “set the reminder before the timeline drinks it all first.”
