A man accused of stealing unreleased music from Beyoncé rejected a five-year plea deal and will now head to trial, risking more time behind bars.
Kelvin Evans had the chance to lock in the sentence, but instead, he told the court he is ready to fight it out. During a Fulton County hearing, Evans appeared on video and made his stance clear, saying, “I’m ready for trial now.” Because of that choice, prosecutors say he now risks up to six years if convicted.
The case traces back to July 8, 2025, when a 2024 Jeep Wagoneer tied to choreographer Christopher Grant was broken into in an Atlanta parking deck on Krog Street. Investigators say Grant and dancer Diandre Blue stepped away briefly, but when they returned, the rear window had been shattered, and their luggage was gone.
Authorities say the missing bags were of significant value. Police reports list MacBook laptops, Apple headphones, designer clothing, and hard drives believed to contain unreleased Beyoncé material. Grant also told officers he had “personal sensitive information” connected to the superstar inside those items, which raised the urgency around the case.
Evans was arrested on August 26 by Hapeville police and has remained in custody since then.
Now, instead of taking guaranteed time, he is betting everything on what happens in court.
