Stefon Diggs is now facing a different kind of spotlight, one that has nothing to do with touchdowns or highlight reels. As jury selection begins in Boston, the veteran wide receiver steps into a legal fight tied to a December incident involving his former private chef.

At the center of the case is a dispute prosecutors say turned physical. According to court records, the chef told police the argument started over unpaid money before escalating. She claims Diggs “smacked her across the face” and later “tried to choke her using the crook of his elbow around her neck,” leaving her struggling to breathe and fearing she might black out.

Diggs has pushed back firmly against those claims. His attorney stated he “categorically denies these allegations,” maintaining they are unsubstantiated and rooted in a financial disagreement. Diggs has not publicly expanded on his defense since appearing in court earlier this year.

The timing raises real questions about what comes next. Just months ago, Diggs looked locked into a strong chapter with New England, delivering over 1,000 receiving yards and playing a key role in the team’s offensive success. Then came his release in March, shifting him from top target to unsigned free agent almost overnight.

That shift now feels even heavier. With no team attached to his name and a courtroom battle unfolding, the conversation around Diggs has changed. What once centered on production now circles accountability, risk, and reputation.

As the trial moves forward, the stakes stretch far beyond this moment. For Diggs, this isn’t just about clearing his name. It’s about whether the league still sees a future worth investing in once the headlines settle.
