Stefon Diggs Accuser Says His Team Flew Him Out Then Asked Him To Prove The Trip In Court

The Stefon Diggs sexual assault lawsuit has entered a new discovery fight after Christopher Griffith claimed the NFL veteran and members of his team arranged the Washington, D.C. trip connected to Griffith’s allegations.

According to TMZ Sports, Griffith is challenging a request from Diggs’ attorneys for documents related to his travel in May 2023. Griffith reportedly argues that the request does not make sense because Diggs and his support staff were allegedly responsible for arranging the trip.

Griffith’s attorney addressed the dispute directly in the filing, stating, “[t]o the extent travel arrangements, confirmations or related documents exist, they are at least equally within [Stefon’s] possession, custody or control.”

The filing does not establish who ultimately paid for the trip or which specific member of Diggs’ staff allegedly handled the arrangements. Instead, the argument centers on whether Griffith should be compelled to produce records that his attorney says Diggs can already access through his own employees, accounts or communications.

Griffith also says he has produced 24 pages of text messages involving members of Diggs’ support staff. The contents of those particular messages have not been publicly detailed, so it remains unclear whether they confirm travel arrangements, discuss the gathering or address events that allegedly occurred during the trip.

The lawsuit previously drew attention when Griffith said he had produced more than 100 pages of communications during discovery. Per an earlier report, the materials included text messages, iMessages and Instagram communications that Griffith says are responsive to requests from Diggs’ legal team.

The existence of a large number of messages does not automatically prove either party’s version of events. Their significance will depend on what the conversations say, when they were sent, who participated in them and whether the court determines that they are authentic and admissible.

Griffith alleges that he was drugged without his knowledge while visiting Diggs in May 2023. Griffith claims Diggs gave him a piece of candy that contained an unknown drug before making unwanted sexual advances.

Griffith alleges that Diggs exposed himself, began masturbating and later attempted to kiss him. He also claims Diggs placed his tongue in his ear and encouraged him to go to a bedroom. Griffith maintains that he did not consent to the alleged physical contact or advances.

Diggs has repeatedly denied drugging or sexually assaulting Griffith. The football star accused Griffith of defamation over allegations he shared publicly. Diggs alleged that his ex-friend fabricated accusations involving sexual assault, drugging, violence and an alleged effort to silence him.

Diggs’ attorney argued, “[Chris] engaged in extreme and outrageous conduct by knowingly publishing false statements accusing Plaintiff of violence, sexual assault, drugging people, and serious crimes.”

Diggs claims Griffith’s statements damaged his reputation and professional relationships. He is seeking damages in an amount that has not been publicly specified.

Griffith responded with counterclaims that include his sexual assault allegations. The federal docket for Diggs v. Griffith identifies Diggs as the plaintiff and Griffith as both the defendant and counterclaimant. According to the Justia docket, the case was transferred from the Circuit Court for Montgomery County to the United States District Court for the District of Maryland in November 2025.

The lawsuit has since produced several disputes over what each side must disclose. A federal judge previously ordered Diggs to provide a more complete explanation of his relationship with Griffith before the alleged incident.

TMZ reported that Diggs had described Griffith as an acquaintance. The judge reportedly ordered him to provide a “truthful, complete, and non-evasive response” explaining how they knew one another and describing their interactions around the May 2023 gathering. The judge also directed Diggs to provide additional information about who was present at his Rockville, Maryland residence.

Griffith further alleges that Diggs arranged for his brother, Darez Diggs, and other people to attack him after Griffith rejected the alleged advances. Diggs denies ordering an attack or participating in a conspiracy against Griffith.

That allegation was also connected to a separate lawsuit involving Darez and the Los Angeles apartment complex where Griffith says he was attacked on May 29, 2023. Griffith agreed to dismiss that separate $10 million lawsuit after reaching a settlement.

The reported settlement amount and its terms were not disclosed. A settlement does not establish that the allegations were proven, and the agreement involving Darez did not resolve Griffith’s separate claims against Stefon.

Outside the courtroom, Diggs is an accomplished veteran receiver who has played for the Minnesota Vikings, Buffalo Bills, Houston Texans and New England Patriots. The Patriots released Diggs in March 2026 after one season with the organization.

His football career, however, does not determine the outcome of the civil litigation. The Stefon Diggs lawsuit remains a contested case in which Griffith is presenting allegations and Diggs is denying them while accusing Griffith of causing serious reputational harm.

The latest fight over travel documents could become important if the records show who invited Griffith, who booked his transportation, who communicated with him before the gathering and how closely he interacted with Diggs’ staff. For now, the filings represent competing claims during discovery, not a ruling that either side’s account has been proven.
