A rhyme battle on Nick Cannon’s show Wild N Out reportedly got personal when Stevie J made a remark about Cannon’s ex wife, Mariah Carey.
According to TMZ, Stevie J and his then girlfriend Joseline Hernandez, who were promoting their reality show, appeared as guests and faced off against Cannon’s team in a freestyle battle. TMZ reported that Stevie J included a comment about Carey in his rhymes, a reference to the fact that he worked as a producer on several of her hit songs, including Honey, Breakdown and I Still Believe.
TMZ reported that Cannon did not like the remark and that the taping got tense before producers stepped in. Cannon and Stevie J have since denied any bad blood. EURweb reported that both men said the taping was all in good fun and that there was no real fight. Carey has not publicly responded.
Battle rap is known for going below the belt, so take the reports with a grain of salt.
