A lawsuit was filed against Ja Morant after he allegedly attacked a minor at his Tennessee home during a pick-up basketball game in July.
According to court documents, Shelby county received the complaint in September, but the case has since been sealed.
Police say the 17-year-old filed the lawsuit after the two got into a verbal altercation after playing in a pick-up game at the NBA star’s home.
In the documents, the plaintiff says the argument became heated and that he threw a basketball at Morant, which “accidentally” hit him in the face.
Afterward, Morant approached the teen and asked a bystander, “Should I do something to him?” Morant hit the teen “with a closed fist, knocking him to the ground.”
The teen said Morant “continued sticking him while on the ground” while another man jumped in.
Police say the teen had a huge knot on his head.
According to the documents, Morant admitted to hitting the teen but argued that he acted in self-defense.
During the argument, the plaintiff “intentionally” threw the ball at him and then “began to approach him as if he wanted to fight.”
Morant reportedly informed police that “his brother” was also involved in the altercation; however, the basketball player declined to identify him.
The documents claim that shortly after the altercation started, witnesses broke it up.  As the teen was being led off the property, he “made verbal threats stating he’d ‘light his house up.'”
Morant claimed he “advised he and his family were put in fear by the statement.”
The documents state that the police reviewed the claims for several weeks before submitting the case to the district attorney’s office on October 4.
A month later, police said the DA decided not to press charges.
