A Texas man has been charged with murder after police say a woman was shot and stabbed outside her workplace, according to The Dallas Morning News.
Police say Alyssa, 24, was attacked just after 9 a.m. on Oct. 2 as she arrived at her job at an apartment complex in Carrollton, Texas. Andrew, 33, turned himself in earlier this week after learning that a warrant had been issued for his arrest, the paper reports. He is the father of her 1 year old daughter.
According to the arrest affidavit, some witnesses described the attacker as a Black man, while police say Andrew is white. Police suggest the attacker may have used makeup and a fake beard to hide his identity from security cameras and witnesses, as reported by The Carrollton Leader. The affidavit states that dark liquid foundation and a fake beard with cosmetic glue were found in a car police believe belongs to Andrew.
People reports that the affidavit also says police found tracking devices on Alyssa’s car and on her boyfriend’s vehicle.
The two had been in a custody dispute over their daughter, and The Dallas Morning News reports Alyssa was awarded custody on Sept. 30. The child was not harmed and is now in the care of Child Protective Services, according to the paper.
Andrew is being held in the Dallas County Jail with no bail set. It was not clear whether he has an attorney, and no response from him has been reported. A murder charge is an accusation, and he is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
