Teyana Taylor is addressing the online chatter after a few moments from her Oscars appearance started making rounds across social media.
The Academy Award-nominated actress joined “One Battle After Another” director Paul Thomas Anderson on stage when the film took home the Best Picture award. As they walked toward the podium, Taylor jokingly placed Anderson in a headlock, a playful interaction that quickly became a viral clip online. However, not everyone found the moment funny. Several viewers took to social media to question her behavior during the ceremony, claiming her reactions were extra and even unnecessary.
After one post on Twitter criticized Taylor for standing and applauding Amy Madigan, who won Best Supporting Actress in a category where Taylor was also nominated, the singer fired back.
“The world holds so much misery that miserable hearts forget the face of happiness. They grow comfortable being sore losers, so when they see real sportsmanship it unsettles them! Like holy water touching a demon,” she wrote.
She also addressed the idea of celebrating someone else’s win even after losing.
“Because clapping for someone else’s victory requires something many people never learned…how to win with grace & pure joy, and how to lose with grace, chin up & dignity.”

While the moment continues to circulate online, Taylor made it clear she stands by showing respect, joy, and class on one of Hollywood’s biggest stages.
