Tiffany “New York” Pollard isn’t holding back when it comes to the friction between Nicki Minaj and her ride-or-die LGBTQ+ fan base.
During a chat with TMZ, the “Flavor of Love” legend addressed the growing divide caused by Minaj’s latest political backing. As a cornerstone of the community herself, Pollard made it clear that while the love for the music remains, the energy surrounding Nicki’s recent public stances has taken a sharp turn.
The conversation comes at a significant time for Pollard, who made headlines last year by officially coming out as queer and non-binary. At the time, they explained that their identity fluctuates between masculine and feminine feelings, a journey that has only deepened their connection to the queer community. When a reporter asked, “Right now, so last question. I know Nicki Minaj let a lot of the LGBTQ community down a little right now, by going the Trump route. What would you, any words for Nicki?” Pollard offered a perspective that was both blunt and hopeful.
“Well, I mean… Nicki, we love her music. I’ve spoken to her several times. Collectively, we were a bit disappointed with… I feel like she needs to listen to a lot more Bruce Springsteen,” Pollard told the reporter. The reality star suggested that the “Queen of Rap” might need to swap political circles for the wisdom of a rock icon. “She need to go sit on his lap, let him speak some words of wisdom to her heart. ‘Cause she’s… yeah, somebody got her off track and she needs guidance back home.”
The disappointment stems from what many Barbz see as a “slap in the face” to the very community that has championed Nicki since her underground mixtape days. For many, her alignment with conservative politics feels like a betrayal of the inclusive, boundary-pushing image she built.
Pollard’s comments suggest that the community doesn’t want to cancel Nicki, but rather see her find her way back to the values they once shared.
