Brenay Kennard, a popular TikTok creator with nearly 3 million followers, has been ordered to pay $1.75 million after a North Carolina jury found her liable for breaking up a marriage, according to WRAL News. The civil case centered around claims brought by Akira Montague, who accused Kennard of having an affair with her husband, Tim Montague.

Akira and Tim married in 2018. She claimed the affair caused emotional trauma, hurt her health, and impacted their kids by taking away a stable home. The jury agreed, siding with her on charges of criminal conversation and alienation of affection.

She has received justice from losing her husband and the father of her children,” said Robonetta Jones, Akira’s attorney.

North Carolina is one of the few states where a spouse can sue someone for causing the end of a marriage. The alleged affair reportedly happened both in the couple’s home and was broadcast across Kennard’s social media.

Kennard pushed back on the verdict, claiming Akira knew what was happening and even gave the green light.

“She gave her consent,” Kennard said. “She said it was okay because she knew her marriage was over with, and it was done.”

Tim Montague ultimately left his wife for Kennard.

In past North Carolina cases involving alienation of affection, juries have awarded millions, but this latest judgment has social media in a frenzy.
