Tina Campbell is no longer letting her husband’s divorce filing tell the entire story.
Nearly four months after Glendon “Teddy” Campbell moved to end their marriage, Trecina “Tina” Campbell has filed her response and placed custody of their two minor children at the center of the case. The Tina Campbell divorce already carried the weight of a 25-year marriage ending, but the latest court documents show the former couple may not be completely aligned on how their family moves forward.
According to legal documents obtained by TMZ, Tina is asking a Los Angeles County judge to award her legal and physical custody of the children. However, she is open to Teddy receiving visitation.
That request represents Tina’s position, not a final custody ruling. A judge will ultimately decide any disputed parenting arrangement based on the children’s best interests unless the estranged spouses reach an agreement first.
Tina also asked the court to block spousal support for both sides. In other words, she does not want Teddy receiving support from her, and she is not asking to collect support from him. She further stated that the marriage has no assets or debts requiring division, though the filing reportedly does not identify a prenuptial agreement.
Then there is the timeline.
Tina listed August 8, 2024, as the date of separation. Teddy previously identified June 2024 when he filed for divorce on April 13, 2026, citing irreconcilable differences. The two-month discrepancy may appear minor, but separation dates can become important when courts evaluate finances, property or obligations accumulated during a marriage.
For now, neither filing reportedly presents a major property battle. Teddy initially asked the court to establish visitation, but he did not select specific custody options in his petition. He also left spousal support matters to be handled later. Tina’s response now gives the case a clearer shape because she has directly stated what she wants regarding the children and financial support.
The Campbells married in August 2000 and built a family while both maintained careers in music. Tina and Teddy share four children, two of whom are now adults. Teddy also has a daughter from a previous relationship. Their two minor sons are the children involved in the current custody proceedings.
Tina became a household name alongside her sister Erica Campbell in Mary Mary, the gospel duo that pushed church-rooted music into mainstream spaces without sanding down its message. Their breakout record “Shackles (Praise You)” became a crossover hit, while their WE tv series, “Mary Mary,” opened their professional and personal lives to viewers.
Teddy also built a respected music career as a drummer and vocalist. His résumé includes performing with the Soul Seekers and working as a drummer on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.”
Their marriage had already survived one of its hardest chapters in public. Tina previously discussed Teddy’s infidelity and the anger, devastation and rebuilding that followed. The crisis unfolded on “Mary Mary,” turning their reconciliation into more than a private decision. It became part of the couple’s public testimony about forgiveness, accountability and faith.
Teddy addressed that period in a 2017 video, saying, “My wife had to forgive me for infidelity.” He also described how Tina’s pain affected their relationship, adding, “When my wife was going through her anger and her frustration and her disappointment and all the hurt, she lashed out at me.”
The couple later renewed their commitment and continued presenting a united front. In 2021, they discussed music connected to saving their marriage, and in 2022, they released the collaborative holiday project “Christmas at Our House.” Those moves made the April divorce filing land harder because their story had become closely tied to surviving what once appeared impossible.
Still, reconciliation does not always guarantee permanence. Teddy’s filing showed the marriage had been fractured privately for nearly two years before the public learned divorce proceedings were underway. Tina’s response now suggests that while both sides may agree the marriage is over, the terms of the ending still need to be settled.
Neither Tina’s custody request nor Teddy’s visitation request proves hostility between them. Court filings often require spouses to formally state their preferred arrangements even when private discussions continue. However, Tina seeking both legal and physical custody puts the children’s living arrangements, education, healthcare and major decisions directly in focus.
