Tory Lanez has just been dealt another legal blow.
The California Court of Appeals has officially denied his request to overturn his felony convictions and 10-year prison sentence for shooting Megan Thee Stallion.
According to court documents obtained by journalist Meghann Cuniff, the appellate court reviewed Lanez’s arguments and ultimately upheld the original decision. That means the Canadian artist, whose real name is Daystar Peterson, will serve out the full sentence handed down to him in August 2023.
“We affirm Daystar Peterson’s conviction.”

The case stems from a 2020 incident in the Hollywood Hills where Megan Thee Stallion was shot in the feet following an argument after a party. She later identified Lanez as the shooter, leading to a high-profile trial that drew national attention.
In December 2022, Lanez was convicted on three felony charges: assault with a semiautomatic firearm, carrying a loaded unregistered firearm in a vehicle, and discharging a firearm with gross negligence. The 10-year sentence reflected the seriousness of the charges and the impact of the shooting on Megan’s life and career.
Lanez’s team has hinted at Megan’s former friend, Kelsey Harris, being the shooter. However, there is no concrete evidence to back up these claims.
