Travis Scott says he is raising his daughter to know that she can do “anything a man can do.”

Gender roles are so played out, and today, more and more young parents are going against the idea that men and women are supposed to do certain things based on their gender. That’s how musician Travis Scott feels about his baby girl Stormi Webster. He says he’s raising his 2½-year-old to be a “strong” young woman, a move he shares with Stormi’s mother, Kylie Jenner.

“I feel like it’s way more important now to protect our young Black daughters, women. Making sure they have the knowledge of just how to carry yourself, how to move in this world, how to be strong, how to not even be scared to take that risk on any idea,” Scott said during a talk on .WAV RADIO. “Now, more than ever, it’s like they have the vision. Whether it’s for anything a man can do, anything a woman can do. They got the pure vision. You know what I’m saying? So it’s just all about that.”

Scott covered the September issue of GQ, and in an interview, the rapper opened up about raising his daughter, PEOPLE reports. “It’s amazing just to watch my daughter grow.” He says the journey of parenthood has created new conversation topics with his parents. “It’s actually cool, because now we have things to relate on, right? Just raising a daughter,” he said. “I’m always talking to my parents. They try to remind me of how I was when I was a kid.”

During the interview, Scott also encouraged people to get out and vote in the 2020 presidential election. He told those who are listening to also bring their family and friends along with them to the polls.
