More than a year after Trey Songz reportedly settled a long-running sexual assault lawsuit, the woman who accused the R&B singer is still fighting to gain access to a large portion of the money.
Jauhara Jeffries has asked a Florida court to release funds from the settlement she reached with Songz, whose legal name is Tremaine Neverson, in 2025. According to court documents obtained by TMZ, the money is being held in a court-controlled escrow account while a lien dispute remains unresolved.
Jeffries is asking the court to release 55 percent of the settlement or, alternatively, every dollar above $69,950.52. While the full settlement amount remains confidential, the request confirms that at least tens of thousands of dollars remain caught in the legal dispute.
Jeffries argued that the delay has prevented her from moving forward with her life and said she needs access to the money as soon as possible. The judge denied her immediate request, but a hearing has reportedly been scheduled for later this month.
The financial fight comes after years of litigation stemming from Jeffries’ allegation that Songz sexually assaulted her during a night out in Miami in the early hours of January 1, 2018.
Jeffries alleged that she attended a New Year’s Eve party at Sean “Diddy” Combs’ Star Island home before heading to E11EVEN nightclub. According to her complaint, Songz invited Jeffries and several other women to ride with him to the club after hearing them discuss their plans.
Once inside E11EVEN, Jeffries claimed she was dancing when Songz inserted his fingers into her vagina without her consent. She later left the nightclub in a vehicle with the singer despite the alleged incident.
Jeffries claimed the situation escalated again during the car ride. According to her lawsuit, Songz demanded that she hand over her phone after she began recording because she feared for her safety. When she refused, she alleged that Songz ordered the vehicle stopped and had her forcibly removed.
Songz has adamantly denied the sexual assault allegations.
Jeffries initially brought a federal lawsuit anonymously as Jane Doe in 2020 and sought $10 million. That case was later dismissed without prejudice. Her attorney subsequently said the dismissal resulted from a technical issue, allowing the claims to be filed again. Jeffries returned to court under her own name in December 2021, eventually seeking more than $20 million in damages.
The case also became tangled in a separate fight over allegations of witness tampering.
Songz’s attorneys accused Jeffries’ lawyer, Ariel Mitchell, of offering money to Mariah Thielen, a woman who had been with Jeffries on the night of the alleged assault, in exchange for testimony supporting the claims against the singer. Mitchell denied the accusation.
The dispute became serious enough that Songz’s legal team asked the court to dismiss Jeffries’ case as a sanction, while Jeffries’ side filed its own requests for sanctions against the defense.
After an evidentiary hearing, Miami-Dade Circuit Court Judge Antonio Arzola ruled in March 2025 that neither side had produced clear and convincing evidence sufficient to justify the severe sanctions they requested. The court found there was no evidence showing Jeffries herself participated in the alleged bribery and denied both sides’ motions.
The case was eventually set for trial beginning in October 2025, but the courtroom showdown never happened.
In September 2025, the parties informed the court that they had reached a settlement. Judge Arzola dismissed the case while keeping jurisdiction to enforce the agreement and resolve any remaining issues connected to it. The amount Songz agreed to pay was not publicly disclosed, and attorneys for both sides declined to reveal the settlement terms at the time.
The latest filing shows that settling the underlying sexual assault case did not completely end the legal complications surrounding the money.
Court records indicate that disputes involving attorney liens continued after the agreement, including litigation concerning claims to funds generated by the settlement. Records from late 2025 show the Williams Law Group was among the interested parties involved in litigation over a charging lien.
Now Jeffries is asking the court to allow her access to most of the settlement while whatever portion remains disputed stays protected.
For Songz, the agreement resolved Jeffries’ sexual assault claims without a trial or finding of liability. For Jeffries, however, the latest court battle means the money at the center of that settlement is still not completely in her hands years after she first brought her allegations before the courts.
