Donald Trump isn’t buying the $4 gas narrative, even as the numbers sit right there.

Video

During a recent exchange, Trump brushed off concerns about rising fuel costs after a reporter cited gas hitting $4 per gallon. His response was quick and pointed, saying prices are “not very high” and adding, “That’s what ABC says.” The moment landed, but the data tells a tighter story.

As of today, the national average gas price is about $4.09 per gallon, according to AAA. That puts the reporter’s claim within pennies of reality, not exaggeration. Prices have hovered just above $4 in recent days, holding steady rather than spiking or dropping.

Zoom in closer and the picture sharpens. In cities like Miami, drivers are already seeing prices in the $4.10 to $4.20 range and climbing depending on location and station.

So while Trump challenges the framing, the margin between perception and reality is razor thin. The number he pushed back on is essentially the number drivers are paying.

Hello .. $4.00 and up a gallon IS high! Along with everything else being high..it’s just killing off more families. Straining low bank accounts already. Why is Washington so out of touch with reality? We need relief from this shit. Glad no bomb but that don’t help any day to day costs for people. ca Food..gas..taxes for school teachers..they get raises every year at cost of living amounts.Never see any principals or super intendents or CEO’S Taking pay cuts. These guys don’t know what impacts all this stuff has on a normal family with average or below average pay and credit card debt over last 4 years from more inflation. Just keeps adding and adding til bank ruptcy i guess.
